Swimming Holes
A classic Vermont experience! These are some of our favorites relatively nearby:
Great swimming hole, especially for a quick dip at the end of the day. I've never seen more than 5 people there, and usually not that many!

City/town information
Ours is the smallest capital in the nation and the only one without a McDonalds!
Montpelier is quintessential New England - there's a spring and summer Farmer's Market on Saturday at 133 State Street. You can spot the occasional fly fisher on the river next to Shaw's supermarket or drive up North street for stunning sunsets.

Hiking
This is a very accessible, yet charming 1.4-mile trail alongside the river and many little waterfalls. A sweet respite with several swimming spots. We also snowshoe here in the winter.
