While it seems like Yellowstone is super close, the south entrance is (relatively), but the park is HUGE. If you are only planning to go for the day, plan on a very long day, leaving very early and returning very late and driving ALL day. There is so much to see and take in, but be mindful of how big and far apart all the great points of interest are.. Another option is to take a guide service. If you have the time, it’s really nice to enjoy all that is has to offer by making plans to stay the night (or 2). Summer is very busy, so expect all accommodations to be full and traffic to move slowly..but then again you are in the national park to enjoy the beauty :)

20 miles from the cabin and about a 30 minute drive, the Town Square is definitely where you want to spend some time while visiting Jackson. Parking can be tricky close to the square but there is a two story parking structure on the corner of Millward and Simpson, just a few blocks from the town square. We recommend leaving your car there and setting out on foot to explore the shops, galleries and restaurants of the downtown area.
