Beautiful river scenery and fishing. Top oysters and seafood available. Nice to walk on the jetty amongst the trawlers. Public 25m pool. Good Chinese at Bowling Club. Can drive there or boat or paddle across from Culburra.

This is where I often surf with my family (best in the mornings), but there is a lot to see here at any time. This is where the river meets the see and only 5 mins drive from Salty's (a bit longer on the pushbike). There is the Marine Rescue Station where you are welcome to visit and where you will see the most amazing view of the ocean, mountains and river. It is well worth a walk from there to the old pilot light, which is unfortunately in disrepair. Fishermen love it here. The quality boat ramp and jetty is here too. Depending on your luck and the season, you may see dolphins, seals, whales and sea eagles.

Only about 200m walk from Salty's is fantastic Tilbury Cove, which was the centrepiece of 'Tilbury Cove Resort' (closed and removed early last century). It is a great place for swimming and paddling or picnicing on the grass - you are sheltered from almost all winds here and the waves are generally small. It is located in the far southern corner of Culburra Beach and access is through a park which has a playground and electric bbqs. Many locals use it as a starting point for daily beach walks. Contact Peter for helpful advice about which places are best for the day's weather conditions.

Besides being a good place to launch a boat or kayak or to fish from the jetty amongst the pelicans, Orient Point is a scenic place to walk or drive or cycle around. The view from the top of Orama Crescent is magnificent. This is where Bert Evans used to build boats. There is a park with swings etc. lower down Orama Crescent. If your there early or late you might need some insect repellant. It's only 5 minutes drive from Salty's.

Comerong Island is an interesting place to travel to and explore. When you check it on the map you will see that it is bounded by the Shoalhaven and Crookhaven Rivers and the ocean to the east. Access is by car ferry through Numbaa or you can boat or kayak across from Culburra if you are able to handle the tide. On the island are farms and a nature reserve which you can drive through (I have walked the road and the beach several times) to get to the breakwall at the Crookhaven River mouth. This is well regarded fishing spot and you can walk onto the beach. Take a picnic lunch with you as there are no shops. Get back to nature.
