Neighborhoods
This is one of the train stations on the Metra line (Union Pacific North) that comes by our house. Not to be confused with RAVINIA PARK, which is where the concerts are hosted!)
We love Abigail's for a slightly fancier meal. They have great cocktails. Warning though, the clientele can sometimes be unaware of themselves and if you are seated at the bar, they may invade your personal space while talking loudly!
This area is a little bit south of us.

Downtown Highland Park is walkable from the house. There are a variety of restaurants, shops, coffee spots, businesses here. Sometimes it is just fun to window shop, and stop in at Beanstalk, which is a fantastic toy store or stop at Breadsmith for some specialty fresh baked bread or other baked goods!

Highwood is close by and has phenomenal bars, a sweets bakery, and a variety of restaurants and shops. It is fairly walkable and if you want to go have an adult beverage, see people and be seen without spending too much, this is the area to do it in!

Ravinia Brewing Co.

Entertainment
If you want to go see some live music, Ravinia is the place to do it! They have incredible acts come through, and you can bring your own food, wine, etc. If you do not have lawn chairs or tables, you can even rent them there!
A picnic blanket is another great option for their sprawling lawns. You can hear the concert from anywhere in the venue. We love Ravinia!

Bus Stops and Schedules
The Ventra app is a great way to see if the busses are coming in real time. One thing to note is that sometimes it says that the bus has come, but it hasn't yet. The bus I have used is the 471 and this has been particularly true- it usually runs a few minutes late!
