Fishing
With the exception of Lake Almanor and our ranch, these places are hard to access during winter months as they are at higher elevations.
Fish in either creek that runs through our property. Williams Creek or Wolf Creek. Rainbow Trout is what we usually see here.

You are guaranteed to catch a fish, and it’s only a 12 minute drive from the ranch! A fun place for kids to catch Blue Gill (originally planted by the Chinese), but also has good bass fishing.

Trout is plentiful along with Bass. If you go where Hamilton Branch pours into Lake Almanor, the fishing is great! Also, just off the boat ramp is good too! That is where we usually go. About a 20 minute drive.

An amazing hidden gem. It’s about a 45 minute drive up the mountain from here and worth it! Also very fun to swim in if the weather permits!

Such a beautiful, less known National Park. It is actually very similar to Yellow Stone in someways. Bumpass Hell is very interesting! Check website to see what is open during the winter months and early spring. 1 hour drive.
We love to stop at Highland Ranch Resort for lunch or dinner!
Almost a 2 hour drive, but people do love this! We would recommend also going to the Subway Lava tubes if you're going to the falls.

Food scene
The grizzly bite, the Valley grind, Evergreen deli, and Young’s market are all local to Indian Valley. The others are either in Quincy or Chester, which are both about a 30 minute drive. The Genesee store is just past Taylorsville. Highland Ranch is past Chester, so about 45 minutes.

Farm Stay
We have a private swimming hole with kayaks, a BBQ, a shade structure with furniture, and a dock.
We also have a private hot spring. Comes out of the ground at 121, but is controlled by a thermometer.
We also have many places to walk on the ranch. Whether it’s up on the hill or down in the fields, you’ll enjoy it!

There is a flat 6.5 mile loop around this beautiful lake. Part of which is paved. Along the paved part, there are fire pits and picnic tables along with restrooms.

Winter
Beat the crowds at Tahoe and other popular mountain resorts for rural and rugged Plumas and Lassen Counties! There are plenty of fun things to do during the winter months. Our hot spring being one! We also have a basketball court in our old barn.
Nearly 30% of California’s water supply comes from snowpack in the Sierra Nevada, so just know that coming in! Often times, we don’t have snow. When we do get a snow storm in Indian Valley it usually doesn’t stick around for long.
We have a private (those who are currently renting our Airbnb's have access) natural hot spring that pours into a blue tub. It makes for an amazing experience stargazing in the cool weather.
