Part of the National Institutes of Health, Rocky Mountain Laboratories is a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility directly behind the property. RML does basic research on the molecular traits of a given microbe. Scientists research influenza, prion diseases, antibiotic-resistant bacteria and more exotic illnesses right here in Hamilton. RML has a long history in the Bitterroot - starting with tick-borne illnesses in the early 1900s. The landmark facility was constructed on the current campus in 1928. There is a visitors center on site.
