If you like breweries, this is a gem. A lot of outdoor seating and a large indoor tap room. The food is incredible as well.

I love ice cream, and this may be the best I've ever had. It's a 30 minute drive, but if you want a dessert other than Food Lions freezer section, this might be worth it.

This is right off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are a three peaks to hike if that's your thing.

There are well maintained trails for hiking/walking/mountain biking. Not many hills. There's a playground and beach for the kids.
