U and 14th is the heart of a number of great restaurants. There are a number of bars in this area as well. This is the neighborhood where Duke Ellington grew up (13th and S Streets). Also the home of the DC landmark, Ben's Chili Bowl.

We are a half a block from Mt. Rainier, MD. This neighborhood was founded in the early 1900s as a streetcar commuter town. Several great restaurants are on Rhode Island Ave which are walking distance from our place.

Fantastic seafood spot off of New York Avenue which is owned by the company ProFish. Everything is delicious. They have a wonderful roofdeck but it fills up fast on a nice day.

We know the owner of this authentic Napoli (certified!) pizza place. Go for the experience of cutting your pizza with pizza scissors. The Chef's special is phenomenal. The also have a location in NoMa which serves Roman style pizza.

One of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the city. This business started as a food truck. Prior to the brick and mortar location, one of Liz's coworkers would stalk the Roaming Rooster food truck online for this sandwich. We love the Nashville Hot Chicken and the Buffalo Chicken sandwiches. Grab those sandwiches and head over to DC Brau which is behind the Post Office in that shopping center!

Very nice French restaurant in Brookland. You will need a reservation. The owner is a sommelier so can make wine recommendations if you need one. Brunch is great too!

Delicious Indian food in a neighborhood setting. All of the dishes are amazing but the veggie dishes really stand out. For meat eaters, get the shrimp korma... so good!

Try the Sopes de Cameron, the shrimp taco or the pepper taco. Also, the fish entree is delicious. If you like spicy, ask for the spicy salsa which is homemade and incredible. Not close to any metro so you will need to drive or take Uber.

Gorgeous aquatic garden about 10 minutes from our house. You can take some really great photos here. You can see frogs, birds and even snapping turtles here. It is an aquatic park so be prepared as it can be muddy after it rains.

The Alamo Drafthouse opened up in 2021 and is in a shopping center near the Rhode Island Avenue metro. At your reserved seating, you can order food as well as beverages (including beer, wine and cocktails) while you enjoy your movie.
