Neighbourhoods

We are located right at the very start of Hasting Old Town as you enter from Rye on the A259 right where the memorial life boats are. A wander from my studio past the bus stop takes you to quaint and picturesque All Saints Street on the left of the A259 and High Street on the left. Both are laden with pretty beamed cottages and have some pretty little Twittens leading off the streets. If your wandering High Street way once you reach the end of the street past the many stylish antique and bric a brac shops you can hook a right and wander down pedestraianised George Street full of pubs and restaurants towards Hastings Town Centre. If you leave the studio and keep left away from the A259 you can wander down residential but beautiful All Saints Street and at the end you reach the fishing community where my ancestry originate from. The neighbourhood in Hastings Old Town is a joy, full of festivals, carnivals, events and is also a lovely close knit community. The hill on the left as you look towards the sea is the East Hill which can be accessed via steps and a funicular railway. The steps can be accessed via Crown Lane and Tackleway or up the side of the Dolphin Pub. This leads you to the Country Park where you can wander for miles and find Ecclesbourne Glen which is a beautiful beach sometimes used as a nudist beach. The hill up on the left houses the Smugglers Caves and Hastings Castle and tickets for both attractions can be purchased online. You can reach here via an underground funicular in George Street or via steps in George Street or Coburg Place. We are proud of our Old Town, me especially as I am born and bred here and my whole family are part of the fishing community. RX68 is a beautiful red wooden boat that belongs to my brothers and is worthy of a photograph. She is the last wooden boat on the beach and really is pretty as a picture.
