This planation gives a small glimpse of the life in Charleston 200 years ago. The Gullah people have restored the land to showcase not only the property owner, but the slaves that ran the crop as well. It is the closest plantation to visit and is so important to truly understanding Charleston's history.

I love this place. It's a nice drive on Johns Island and is the only tea plantation in America. They have a free, 20-minute tour that is very interesting or you can pay for the carriage tour through the tea leaves. Plus you can sample all of the teas in their gift shop and sit on the shaded front porch to enjoy them!

This is the closest "beach" to the house and a really great view of downtown Charleston and the Ravanel bridge. If you are looking for a quiet place to have an evening cocktail or an early morning walk, I highly recommend stopping by.

A wonderful view of the city, close to other attractions and a nice workout! A steep uphill walk, not sure of the mileage but probably about 6 over the bridge and back.

Perfect way to see Charleston from the water. A short boat ride across the harbor to Mt. Pleasant. Very often you see dolphins along the way!

An experience. A little spot on Folly beach, with a changing menu, picnic tables, barefeet and very local.

Locally owned and an oyster favorite many years. Rustic, on the water and tucked away.
Side note: Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs filmed one of the episodes here on the shoveling oysters off the boats.

Folly has it's own vibe. A small beach town, the closest beach to the house for an ocean view. Several great restaurants to grab some lunch, listen to live music and just chill in the sun.
