Outdoor activities
A unique and unexpected sanctuary in the city. This park has dozens of lily and lotus pools and beautiful long boardwalks over the marsh. Flowers bloom and peak throughout June and July, but it's a lovely spot to visit year-round. Lots of wildlife sightings too, including turtles, fish, great blue heron, and frogs. Despite it's small size, it's one of the National Parks! A 15 minute car ride or a 4.8 mile bike ride through the bike trail system to get there from the house.

Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens

A 10 minute walk from the house via neighborhood streets and the Northwest Branch Trail. This park is right along the NW branch of the Anacostia river. It has tennis courts, basketball court, a fitness court, and a playground. The trail goes on for miles and is great for walking and biking.
