Audubon Acres used to be called Bird Sanctuary, then Wildlife Sanctuary. If you want to see an actual mountain cabin, walk a wooded path by a stream and cross a little swinging bridge, this is a good place most tourists don't think about. In October, it hosts Pioneer Days with real-life demonstrations of pioneer cooking, spinning, musket-shooting, butter churning, cider and candle making, cow milking, clothes scrubbing and more.
