Arrived early on the Avenue and helped establish East Passyunk Square as a cool, hip spot. Decent margaritas with fun flavors available on the rocks. Good service. Outdoor patio. A little spendy, but that's the trend. Fun night out.

Dive bar feel (in the best possible way) with pub food and lots of vegan/vegetarian 'junk food.' Owned by same local group that owns the Cantina, side walk seating.

Coffee Shop

Make time to relax … while getting jacked on caffeine and maybe grab a snack.
Get the red eye! Also fresh juice made to order. Cool spot. They let me bring my dog in while I order at the counter.

I get a red eye … although they do offer a twist on ‘the citywide special.’ A lot of bars offer a shot of whiskey and a beer under this title, but here you get a shot of espresso and a mug of Joe. It’s cute … but the red eye might be more cost effective. I like their fig and peanut butter toast.

This is actually à recommendation from guests who stayed at my place. I haven’t eaten there yet but mostly because it’s so crowded. I’m happy they’re doing such a good business.

Great selection of plants and planters with a knowledgeable staff. Good gift ideas. And they usually have a water bowl out for doggies and welcome them into the store.

Getting Around

The Broad Street Line (subway) is just a couple of blocks from my house. It will take you down to the stadiums for sporting events and concerts in a flash. It will also take you into Center City and toward North Philly, in case you’re seeing a Show at The Met or checking out Temple University, or whatever. SEPTA is the name of the local transit organization; download their app to get info on timing, routes, etc. Currently subway passes are only valid for a single user but Philadelphia is promising to get up-to-speed so that multiple passengers can swipe through the turnstile on a single card.
