Passeio turístico
During centuries Ribeira (meaning - by the river) was the center of our town, because the Port was here. Everything coming by sea or river would land here. It was the safest and quickest way to travel. Goods from the inland, like the port wine, wood, coal, vegetables, olive oil or from abroad, like spices, textiles and all kinds of goods, would be sold in the local markets where foreigners and locals would, like today, meet and mingle. Some streets in Ribeira date as far back as the 13th century.
This is a well preserved time capsule and part of Unesco Patrimony. A living gem of what it was like to live in the city of Porto not long ago, the steps, the narrowness of the street and how vital it was to live near the river.
Living on these streets was a source of security because they were close to the Medievel wall, a place that would give them security in case of war, close to the Cathedral of Porto for the protection of the soul and near the river their main source of income.

Bothanical garden in Oporto presents many exhibitions in their gardens.
Spreading across over 4 hectares and with a layout dating from the XIX century, the Museum’s “green lung” contains a variety of gardens and spaces that frame two main buildings that have recently been subject to requalification: Casa Andresen, whose name evokes two important names from the XX century Portuguese literature – Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen and Ruben A., and which currently harbours the Hall of Biodiversity – Ciência Viva Center, a space dedicated to the dissemination of the biological sciences, evolution and biodiversity; and Casa Salabert, which harbours U.Porto’s E-Learning Café – Botânico.
