Well worth a visit and it’s fun trying to spot a penguin in its burrow or a whale out to sea. Don’t forget your camera as it’s a great scenic place for a picture or two.

If you park in the Conservation Hill car park, on Cowes-Rhyll Rd it’s a lovely walk through the wetlands. A boardwalk takes you through the mangroves , before heading through the bush to the Rhyll township. It’s an easy walk, just over 2km and a great family activity as the kids want to see what is around the next corner. Great for wallaby spotting too.

Woolamai Surf Beach and it’s western extension of The Colonnades never disappoints, watch the sunset (Colonnades) from the cliff tops or explore the rock pools at low tide. As the name implies it’s great for surfing too.

Rhyll is that sleepy little seaside town that brings those peaceful feelings. Perfect spot to catch the sunrise and lots of sea birds frequent the beach here too.

One of the hidden places to catch the sunset. Park just past the car park for the penguin parade and take the stairs down to the beach. Be aware that the gates close at sunset though so once the sun dips below the horizon you’ll have to get out of there.

Newhaven is a quiet spot to relax overlooking the bridge onto the island or Westernport Bay. Why not pick up some lunch or tasty treats from the Newhaven Bakery and enjoy it while watching the pelicans sun themselves. There’s also a marina and boat ramp and it’s another great spot to view the sunrise.
