Sightseeing

Open for summer hiking and winter skiing, tubing, sledding with stunning views of the city. Winter: ticket reservations are required and snow tires are required on cars. Parking is free, but tends to full/ sold out on weekends if you are not pre booked with tickets. Summer: parking is free, be Bear Aware (bells and spray highly suggested) and bring bug spray. This is true back country despite ease of access, so bring water, warm clothes and ensure someone knows your route. Mountain biking is on trails accessed from the road and Mushroom Parking lot up Old Buck trail. Details on trails and access are found at nsmba. ca

Stunning scenery at the tiny harbour and waterfront. Nice small walking street for food. Quarry Rock is a short but extremely scenic monolith to scale, but note since Covid is often closed due to crowding. Paddle Boarding and kayaks can be rented. (reservation needed in advance) Dining: We highly recommend Arm’s Reach Bistro for upper scale dining with a great stroll on the waterfront. A must try is Honey’s - get the donuts, they are legitimately world famous! Note: be warned is extremely busy with tourists on summer weekends, parking is near impossible unless you walk in from the overflow lots by the high school. Cooler months and evenings tend to be quieter with locals only, still worth a visit.
