Parks & Nature

A great trail to hike in June and July is the Glen Aulin Trail, It's a moderate 11 mile hike with waterfalls and the added bonus of swimming at White Cascade.

Catheys Valley is a ranching community in the foothills of Yosemite. It is 15 minutes from the historic mining town of Mariposa, home to Epic Alpacas and on the doorstep of the ghost town of Hornitos as well as Lakes McClure and McSwain which houses Splash-n-Fash Aqua Park.
Great family fun activity for the hot weather. Check out their website mysplashndash.com to make sure they are open as it is seasonal and weather permitting. You can also call 888-554-0014 and tell Mary you are staying at Hummingbird Haven in Catheys Valley. Also you can rent kayaks, fish or go cycling. There is a great burger restaurant there or you can reserve your own spot with table, benches and a barbecue.

It's a real adventure. I went with my 10 year old grandson and we had a fantastic time. Much more fun than I expected and they also offer gold panning and have an aerial adventure course that I plan on taking all my grandchildren to! You have to book in advance during the busy season. It's just minutes to Yosemite Zip tours. Call 209-742-4844 and check out Yosemiteziptours.com
