Really good deli and small specialty market. This is one of the most popular local places for sandwiches, breakfast bagels, and coffee. Note that they only take cash!

Very casual but very good seafood joint fashioned after places on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Fun place for a plate of oysters or crab cake sandwich and a cold beer.

Typical and great Lebanese fare with many things cooked in a huge open fire oven. A great place for take out but the interior is lovely and the service is outstanding always.

This new place is all the rage. The menu is unusual (expect to have to google several items before you order) but those who love it, REALLY love it. Certainly a place to try if you feel a little creative. Look for it on YELP where you will find detailed reviews that describe it well.

This is the closest park for guests with kids. It has all new (summer 2016) equipment. There are separate fenced areas for little one (toddlers and under) and older kids. There is also a lot of shady green space, benches for adults to chill with a book, and a basketball court that almost always has a pick up game going on.

Rock Creek Park runs the length of NW from the National Mall to the northern tip of the city. One entrance to it is just a 5 minute walk from the apartment. The walking / biking trail has exercise stations along the way if that's your thing but also just a great place for a walk or jog.
