Sightseeing

South Stack Lighthouse was built by Trinity House in 1809, marking a tiny islet off Anglesey at the north west tip of Wales. Newly reopened for 2017 The historic South Stack Lighthouse is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs. South Stack Rock lies separated from Holyhead Island by 30 metres of turbulent sea, surging to and fro in continuous motion. The coastline from the breakwater and around the south western shore is made of large granite cliffs rising sheer from the sea to 60 metres. South Stack Lighthouse - Phillip Combs Visitors may tour the former lighthouse engine room before climbing to the top of the lighthouse. South Stack

Parks & Nature

The Warren is a large sand dune system which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its geological, botanical, invertebrate and ornithological qualities. The Warren (along with Llanddwyn Island) is also a National Nature Reserve (NNR), although the forest is not included within this designation. There is a network of footpaths through the forest and across the Warren and onto Penrhos and Llanddwyn beaches. There is a footpath across to Llanddwyn island, but it is cut off from the beach at high tide. The reserve is served by four car parks which are situated at the main access points. The adjoining Malltraeth estuary holds large collections of wading birds
