Getting Around

Subway station about 5 minutes walk from the house. Use your included MBTA Charlie smartcard. You can add value to the card after you take your included roundtrip. If heading to the convention center, airport, down town, etc. take the red line subway in the direction of Ailwife. When returning to the house from most locations, take the red line subway in the direction of either Ashmont or Braintree (they both stop at Andrew). There is a Dunkin Donuts next to the station.

Food Scene

Great freshly prepared sandwiches, and many local foods, cheeses, wine, and beers. Typically free Thursday beer tasting and Friday wine tasting. Locally owned shop with all locally and small batch sourced ingredients. About 1-1.5 miles from the house. Walk, take an Uber, or take city MBTA bus.

Best lobster rolls! Off the beaten path, a locals place. Near the BOS airport, outdoor seating in the summer, near the ocean and can watch planes. Cash only but they have an ATM on site. You can look up a Youtube segment done on the restaurant. Take Uber or Lyft, only about a 15 minute ride from the house unless heavy traffic. Also a fish market where you can buy sea food for home. Also has burgers and other non sea food items.

Way out of the way, 30 minutes drive if your lucky! But great bar thin crust pizza. I'm sorry to say I don't know a closer place in the city to get pizza like this. Full bar available, but bring your id. On the weekends or at peak times, there can be a 30-45 minute+ wait for a table, so you know its good! Cash only, the place hasn't changed much in say 40 years, handwritten checks for instance. Very inexpensive.

Drinks & Nightlife

Five minutes from the house, across from Andrew station. Step in to South Boston's past before gentrification. Drink Harpoon beer which is brewed in Boston. Any night except Wednesday ask for the sole bartender, Butter! Bring cash and pay each time you get a drink, again this is not a gentrified place, and you'll meet some local Southie characters. Try your hand at the Keno lottery game, ask Butter about squares, or watch sports on the tv. No food, but you can order delivery, including by Uber Eats. Play a tune on the jukebox. Also it opens at 8:00am. The owner is Tony. $4 Harpoon and other draft beers, a bargain in Boston.

More typical of the new gentrified Boston, in a built up section of South Boston/Fort Point. Craft cocktails and some food. Tell the bartender what you like, and they'll make a cocktail. Can access via MBTA South Station red line stop. Also many nearby places in that area. A very built up and bustling yuppie area.
