At 6684 feet, this is the highest mountain east of the Rockies. Mt. Mitchell is home to hiking trails across the peaks of the Black Mountains, wild blueberry picking around Labor Day, annual Assault on Mt. Mitchell bike ride from Greenville, SC. There is a large restaurant and also a snack bar at the top. We live in the valley of the Black Mountains and the South Toe River. There is quite a lot of Cherokee history in this place and on our farm.

The Parkway Playhouse in the town of Burnsville is the oldest continually operating summer theater in North Carolina, starting in 1947. We love going, it operates from May through October. They also have a remarkable children's theater, usually with 3 full productions each summer.
