Great for dining. You get to experience some history of the Yukon River and eat some awesome locally sourced food. It's relaxed dining but might be a bit pricey - it's my go to place to have a celebration.

This is a completely organic cafe that also sells the best bread ever! It always has a nutritious soup with a free slice of bread. Great fresh organic juices. I believe it is a vegan cafe but you would never notice. Need a health boost...go here!

I absolutely love going to Sanchez when I'm craving some real Mexican food. I love this restaurant and Otelina, the owner, has been in the City for as long as I can remember (for over 30 years) - her family runs the store with her. Great food!

A great place for dinner and lunch. They are always hopping. Great locally sourced food. Open only in the summer (after Mother's day, I believe). I think they may have brunches too! It's like having dinner in a wall tent but it's very cool!

Where Ogilvie and Front Street meet is a park called Shipyards Park. From May 1 to September 30, every Thursday from 3pm to 8pm is a local market called Fireweed Market. There are often food trucks, locally produced vegetables and arts and crafts. Enjoy!

If you like crepes - savoury or sweet...or you like poutine...head out here for some dinner! You may need to make a reservation because they don't have a huge dining space. It's located at the Takhini Hot Springs so go for a soak and then have a meal! Yum!

If it's after 10pm and you want to go dancing, this is the place to go. It's usually top 40 music on the weekends. I don't go often, but when I do, it's alot of fun. Some local bands also play.

Sightseeing

If you are here and it gets dark at night - there are two view points on Grey Mountain Road one about 1km in and the other about 3km in that you can pull off in your vehicle and watch the Northern Lights when they are out. Also great to see the whole city during the day!

At the end of Fish Lake Road is a hike up the mountain to your right as you look at onto the lake from the road. Follow the paths to get you there...I do not think there is signage so always inform yourself before you go. Yukonhiking.ca has some great hikes.

If you go to the beginning of Riverdale you will see a trailhead at the start of Grey Mountain Road or at the start of Hospital Road. You will see the many nature trails that are behind Riverdale. Some amazing views on ridges. Awesome places to hike.

On your way to Carcross from Whitehorse, after you pass Spirit Lake - kind of hard to find, but what looks like a driveway off to the left of the highway is a small place to park your car just off the driveway, start walking up the driveway until you see an interesting tree stump, take the trail to the left of the stump, keep walking until you see the "Attention Hikers" sign, take the trail to the right of that sign, walk up...up...up...and then once you are as high as you want to go...walk back down :-) Do not hike this trail between mid-May and mid-June because you can upset the Sheep having babies, and prevent them from looking after their babies. Mind blowing views!
