Sightseeing
The gardens are beautiful and always have something of interest no matter what time of the year you visit. And you can finish off your walk around the grounds with some pretty special cake in the cafe. My favourite bit!

A great rainy day can be spent wondering around the castle. You may even spot the ghost of the famous Judge John Jeffreys! The museum houses a wealth of war memorabilia and is the home of the local regiments archives. Move through the age of the dinosaur, bronze and iron age and into the modern with a great coffee shop once you've finished your tour. An item particularly worth a look is a replica of the Alfred Jewel found only a few miles from the museum itself and take a walk through the rooms where the Hanging Judge himself presided. Oh and it's free to look around!
