Our very own Italian at the end of the road, open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Sebastian and Michael are half-Italian and run the place like clockwork. They have just done up the gorgeous terrace garden at the back. Open late

This is THE place to be in the summer during the festival as it is right opposite the festival halls and full of artists and guests alike. When the tables are all full the guests come anyway and stand in the street between the restaurant and its lovely trestle tables opposite to drink a glass of wine with friends and meet others. The lady steak is divine!

The lady steak is divine!
This newly renovated terrace on the 7th floor has the best view over Salzburg. Service is slow and the menu pricey but it doesn't get more dramatic than this!

For a wonderful morning walk cross the Neutorstrasse and take the steps up on the right from the bend in the Reichenhallerstrasse to the Mönchsberg. There are great views down onto the Old Town of Salzburg the other side and it is possible to walk all along to the Festung/Fortress.

It is very pricey but the quality is good and is worth it for a treat once in a while! On Saturday there are stalls run by local farmers with vegetables straight from the fields and wonderful home-made breads.

This is two minutes' away and where to go for all your basics. They have a bread counter at the back and bake bread on the premises. It is well stocked and prices are competitive. Look out for Spar Premium brands if you want something a bit more special.
