The Palatine Tables (so called perhaps in reference to the identification, in the past, with the site of an ancient palace) are the remains of a Doric peripteral temple exastyle of the VI century BC. dedicated to the mythological divinity Hera [1]. The temple, located near the Bradano, was linked to an extra-urban sanctuary, from which emerged the wall of the temenos and remains of an older altar [2].
The remains of the monument are located in the archaeological area of Metaponto, more precisely on the last ripple of the Givoni, ancient coastal cords, near the right bank of the river Bradano, erected on the ruins of an ancient Neolithic village, along the prehistoric road coming from Siri

The most important testimonies of the site are the antiquarium (an octagonal structure), the theater, the Roman castro, the city agora, the necropolis, the temples of Apollo Licio, Demeter, Aphrodite, Hera and the most famous monument are the Tavole Palatine, the temple that marked the boundaries of the ancient city dedicated to Hera.

The archaeological park is two kilometers from the National Archaeological Museum of Metaponto, where are kept many of the artifacts found there, near the highway 106 Jonica.

- the arrival of the Greeks from the Achaia (Peloponnese region) during the 7th century B.C.;
- the formation of the colony with the occupation of the territory and the development of the city;
- the transformations of the Italic centers of the hinterland between the 6th and 4th centuries B.C.
