An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within easy reach of Pilling.
With its cheeky name this delightful fell overlooking the M6 at Scorton has been a popular viewpoint for generations of Sunday strollers from Preston, Lancaster and Blackpool. Though not particularly high at 215m, its location, between the Bowland Fells and the wide expanse of the Fylde, makes it a superb platform reached with comparatively little effort. Add to this lovely Grizedale and you have all the ingredients of a most satisfying walk.

Nicky Nook trig point

The museum is housed in the Port of Lancaster Custom House and warehouse buildings which date from the second half of the 18th century. The buildings along the quayside developed around this time as a result of the success of overseas trade. Alongside of the museum are buildings which belonged to prosperous Quaker slave trader Dodshon Foster.
This now peaceful stretch of the river would once have bustled with ship building activity and the loading and unloading of goods.

Located on the 2.5 mile stretch of the Glasson Branch on the Lancaster Canal, which opened in 1826 and provided the towns of Kendal, Lancaster and Preston with a link to the sea.
