Fort Washington is located across the Potomac, but you can stop and view it from our side of the river. Very impressive! There is also a small historical marker, vignette with more information.

Great place to park and head out on the Mt. Vernon trail. You can launch your boat from the Marina here and in July hundreds park here to see the fireworks.

Young kids and families enjoy seeing this historic fort. Lots of people picnic here and use this area as a way to escape from the city life. Very pretty and peaceful!

Nationals Park is not too far away if you take 295 North. You can bypass a lot of traffic and be there to watch baseball game and, if you're lucky, a concert afterwards! Ben's Chili Bowl is there too.

The Butter Chicken and garlic naan bread are the best! Great restaurant and the owner is very pleasant! I absolutely love this cozy, quiet place. Very romantic and great lunch buffet also. Namaste!

If you love golf and can get onto the base, I've heard it's a very nice course. Not as large as it use to be because of the new hospital being constructed.

Nice place for a picnic! People launch their canoes and paddle boats from here. There are picnic tables and a nice open area for relaxing right on the water. Absolutely spectacular at sunset!
