Phoenix is super close to my place and great value for money. It is a no frills bar and restaurant that serves burgers, sandwiches etc. It is open late for drinks and food.

-Go on a sunday for the Arts on Main food and crafts market.
-Go in an evening (thursdays to saturdays are vibiest) for drinks, live music, great food and a lot of atmosphere.
-Go during the day for boutique stores and crafts as well as food and drinks.
Drive or take an Uber.

Parks & Nature
A great piece of nature in the city. The dam is used for boating and other water sports. The attached park and botanical gardens are extensive and lovely for a walk or a picnic. Entrance is free.

This one will need a private vehicle to get to and it is a bit of a distance, but it is a beautiful botanical garden. Explore all the different pathways and view points on foot. Walk to the big waterfall where a pair of Black Eagles nest overhead. There is a small entrance fee applicable. But put on your sneakers and pack a picnic and enjoy a day in the sunshine.

Malcolm RoadThis one will need a private vehicle to get to and it is a bit of a distance, but it is a beautiful botanical garden. Explore all the different pathways and view points on foot. Walk to the big waterfall where a pair of Black Eagles nest overhead. There is a small entrance fee applicable. But put on your sneakers and pack a picnic and enjoy a day in the sunshine.

This little centre is under 5 minutes by car from my place (or 10-15 minutes walk, but it is mostly uphill). There are two great grocery stores, several restaurants and fast food spots, ATMs and a few other places.

This centre has a park and ride for the Gautrain bus network. You will need to purchase a Gautrain prepaid card in advance. Get one at the airport or any other Gautrain station, Otherwise you can purchase one at the Petrol (Gas) Station outside this centre's entrance in Republic Road.

This is a great theatre complex inside a portion of an original City Centre fruit and veg market. It has a lot of history as a theatre showing all sorts of local productions (even protesting Apartheid back in the day). Check if there is anything interesting and local showing while you are in town. The best parking is in the Newtown Junction parking garage. You can connect through to the Theatre. Go early and explore the Newtown area. There are loads of art and culture related places as well as bars and restaurants.
