There are several small restaurants right on the water in Thong Krut village 3km west. Try some during your stay and you'll soon pick a favourite where you will be warmly welcomed and looked after each time you return.

Good French breads and pastries - and a great place for breakfast with many typical European selections on the menu. Get your coffee fix here!
There is another equally good French bakery and cafe about 300m south of La Fabrique, same side of the road, also well worth a morning visit. Buy baguettes and croissants here to take home for later.

The Air Bar has wonderful views, great drinks selection and live music most evenings. Pricey but worth it once in a while for that special occasion !

If you need a Japanese food fix (and who doesn't!) this is a great choice. Not local but only 30 mins drive to Nathon. You will find it on the RHS of the road as you go round the 1 way system entering Nathon. Wander down the central narrow road and see the old Chinese style shop houses

If you need a Japanese food fix (and who doesn't!) this is a great choice. Not local but only 30 mins drive to Nathon. You will find it on the RHS of the road as you go round the 1 way system entering Nathon. Wander down the central narrow road and see the old Chinese style shop houses
On Thong Tanod bay - go past Thong Krut, turn left at the snake farm crossroads go about 2 km and look for sign French Kiss to the left. Lovely location right on the water with great food and wine. Worth seeking this one out!

These are some of the interesting local places to visit. Our guests have given positive comments on them all, but of course it depends on individual interests!

Beautiful wooded area around the waterfall, swimming, huge ancient trees, small Thai food restaurants and some souvenir shops. This is where Thai families go at weekends and on holidays.
Note there are 2 waterfalls at Na Meuang. This is the original, also known as Waterfall 1. Waterfall 2 - Safari Park is close by but not at all the same experience - highly commercial, expensive and questionable treatment of their animals. Not recommended!

From Thong Krut Pier - 3km west in Thong Krut village - take a long-tail boat trip out to Koh Tan island. Snorkel, swim, feed the tropical fish, drop-off on Koh Tan beach and have lunch in a great little restaurant. Steamed fish always wonderful.

Peak Eye View - the highest point on the island. If the weather is clear the views are stunning - don't go if its a cloudy day. Need a car or take a taxi. Suggest don't try to go up on a scooter. Stop for a drink and eat lunch in one of the restaurants up there.
The Magic Garden (or Secret Garden) is close by and also worth a visit while you are up there. Follow the signs along the road

Horse riding on the beach. Just to the east of Bang Kao village, 10 mins away. Great fun for all the family. They have a website you can search and find all the details.

This Wat holds the mummified monk's body on display. Search "Wat Khunaram" and read up on the history. Well worth a visit on the way to/from Lamai area.

Wat Khunaram (Phra Wihan Luang Por Daeng)
This Wat holds the mummified monk's body on display. Search "Wat Khunaram" and read up on the history. Well worth a visit on the way to/from Lamai area.

Coconut wood handicraft shop. On the road north to Nathon. OTOP (One Tambon One Product) handicraft shop , left side of road, just before the Ban Saket open market and opposite Chevrolet car dealer. Great selection of coconut wood items, and go look at the workshop behind.

Fish and seafood straight from the boats. This is the real deal and the best and freshest fish shrimp and squid you'll find. Go at sunrise, shop for seafood then have a rice soup breakfast in one of the small shops nearby.
Hua Thanon is 5km to the east on the road to Lamai.

5 mins walk away - turn right out of the driveway, take first concrete road on left, follow the road for 150m and you are there! Acoustic Cafe for some drinks and snacks ( check its open before making plans) and the disc golf course starts right there too. If you're interested in music talk to the owner (a guitarist) and sometimes you'll find some live music there.
