My Favourite Walking Routes Around Liberty Village

Living in the city, I found walking to be a great way to get around and explore the sites. Here are my some of my favourite walking routes.
Located 10 mins from my building, The Bentway is a unique public space that transforms 1.75km underneath Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway into a new gathering place. Opened in January 2018, The Bentway hosts offers year-round activities and events, including gardens, a skate trail, recreational amenities, public markets, public art, special exhibitions, festivals, theatre and musical performances. The Bentway is also a great way to access the popular attractions and destinations – from Fort York National Historic Site, Ontario Place and Exhibition Place to Harbourfront Centre and the CN Tower.

Rated as one of Toronto's best places to take a walk, Marilyn Bell Park is a great natural space to enjoy along the waterfront. On a clear day you can easily see the escarpment across the lake. Located along the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail, you will find many other Toronto sites are within a short stroll of the park. If you cut through Liberty Village from my place, the park is 2.3 km away. If you want to head straight to the lake and walk west along the shoreline to access the park, it will be just over 3 km away.

Enjoy scenic waterfront views 365 days a year from Harbourfront Centre's pristine boardwalk. Stretching along the north shore of Lake Ontario, and located along the Great Lakes Waterfront trail, the boardwalk is often animated with street performers during the summer months and offers access to Toronto's marinas, shops and restaurants, with connections to the Water's Edge Promenade.

Walk north on Strachan Ave a few blocks to meet up with Queen Street West and find an entrance to Trinity Bellwoods Park. Nestled in the heart of the city's trendiest neighbourhoods, Trinity Bellwoods Part extends from Queen W to Dundas Street West to the north, with Gorevale on east and Crawford/Shaw to west. Adjacent to the centre of the park are a volleyball court, large playground, and children's outdoor wading pool. You will also find eight outdoor tennis courts located in the south-east corner and an outdoor ice skating rink at the north-east boundary and volleyball court just north of the Rec Centre. There is also field space for soccer, football, and rugby, as well as three softball fields along the east boundary. In the summer months you will find the park bustling with events and activities like weekly farmers' markets, cultural events, outdoor movie nights, book fairs, live theatre, performance art, and informal drumming circles.
