The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has a huge presence in Utah. Salt Lake temple square offers free museums with historical info about the area, exhibits on humanitarian projects, free concerts (the daily organ ones are amazing and free). A great place to roam around and look at free exhibits.

Free tours of a beautiful old building. The marble staircases are beautiful. Lots of display exhibits you can peruse on your own time regardless if you hit a tour time or not.
