The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd is Britain’s only free-ranging herd of reindeer found in the Cairngorm mountains in Scotland. These tame and friendly animals are a joy to all who come and see them. Reindeer are not just for Christmas!
There are currently around 150 reindeer in the herd, mostly ranging on the Cairngorm Mountains with the remainder on the Glenlivet Estate, the locations being some 30 miles apart.

Situated at 234m above sea level, Tomintoul is renowned as the highest village in the Highlands.

Its layout hasn’t changed much since. The Duke’s demand for a good Public House in the centre of the town no doubt helped to secure its popularity. Situated at 234m above sea level, Tomintoul is renowned as the highest village in the Highlands.
It never rains here. But just in case it does - Established in 1990, Rollerbowl was previously a green bowls club. Rollerbowl was an entirely new concept to the highlands as it brought a new leisure experience to the area.

On the island are the ruins of Lochindorb Castle, a former stronghold of the Clan Comyn and is built on what now is said to be an artificially created island. It is also a popular spot with fishers and birdwatchers, the latter of whom come to see the local black-throated divers and greylag geese. At the southeast edge of the loch there is a small patch of coniferous forest.

Lochindorb is home to an array of wildlife and is a popular fishing and birdwatching spot. The loch was traditionally a game loch with a large native brown trout population however there has been a dramatic decrease in numbers. Pike have been recorded in the loch for over 20 years and were illegally stocked. Pike have been used as an excuse for the demise of the trout, however anglers have been removing large numbers of trout due to no bag limit or permit system being in place.

Speyside Visitor Centre is situated on the Speyside Way beside the River Spey and is close to the centre of the town of Aberlour. It is housed in the Old Station Building in the town. Geographically, Aberlour is in the heart of Speyside and is the gateway from the west to Speyside. We provide information on the famous whisky distillleries of Speyside and other visitor attractions, on the Speyside Way, and on local walks and other activities. We also provide information on accommodation and local transport services, and we have local souvenirs for sale. In addition to the provision of information, we also have exhibitions, videos and displays about Speyside for the enjoyment of visitors. We have free public internet access. There is car parking, toilets, shops and local amenities nearby.
The Speyside Visitor Centre is hosted by volunteers, trained to World Host status, who have a wealth of local knowledge and experience which they are pleased to share with visitors.

We provide information on the famous whisky distillleries of Speyside and other visitor attractions, on the Speyside Way, and on local walks and other activities. We also provide information on accommodation and local transport services, and we have local souvenirs for sale. In addition to the provision of information, we also have exhibitions, videos and displays about Speyside for the enjoyment of visitors. We have free public internet access. There is car parking, toilets, shops and local amenities nearby.
The Speyside Visitor Centre is hosted by volunteers, trained to World Host status, who have a wealth of local knowledge and experience which they are pleased to share with visitors.
Distilleries
Speyside is whisky heaven! By far the largest (by number of distilleries) and arguably the most famous of Scotland's whisky regions, this breathtaking area sits in a fertile valley of rivers and secluded glens and is home to over half of Scotland's distilleries.
Speyside is arguably the driest and warmest part of Scotland and the fertile farmlands in and around the region are ideal for growing barley, which when combined with soft local water tumbling down off the mountains, produces some of Scotland's best-loved malt whiskies.
Sample the remarkable flavours of Speyside's fine malts as you explore the region, and follow the world-famous Malt Whisky Trail™ - the world's ultimate Scotch whisky experience - comprising of nine 'must-visit' sites including seven working distilleries, Dallas Dhu historic distillery and the Speyside Cooperage - the only working cooperage in the UK.
Built in 1958, Tormore was one of the first new distilleries to appear during the post-World War II Scotch boom. The beauty and uniqueness of its architectural design were recognized in 1986 when the distillery was granted listed building status, despite being less than 30 years old.
Tormore Distillery was designed by the renowned architect, Sir Albert Richardson.
Sir Albert Richardson (1880-1964) was one of the leading architects of his time in Britain, and was awarded the Royal Gold Medal for Architecture. He was known for his architectural style which combines neoclassicism with modernism.
This style is apparent in the design of the Tormore Distillery where the traditional stone balconies and the copper roof, which has gradually weathered to a deep green colour, sit alongside clean, sharp edges and minimalist gardens.
Tormore Distillery is also home to some architectural quirks, in particular, a clock that plays four different Scottish songs every quarter of an hour.

At Benromach their Single Malt Scotch Whisky is handcrafted and made slowly, the time-honoured way. Using the finest natural ingredients 3 distillers orchestrate every second of the distillation process by sight, sound, touch and smell.
