Our Local Favorites
The East Side and Brady St. neighborhood are home to so many great places to eat and drink. Here are a few of the things we love and highly recommend. Check the “Doings” section of the house website (pearsonjewelbox.com) for more options, along with other resources. Or contact us to ask for specific recommendations.

Just a few blocks east on Brady St., you’ll find this lively Italian spot, which offers great pasta, pizza, salads and drinks. Try the pasta flight if you can’t decide. It’s a little noisy, but delicious.

In the mood for authentic street tacos, tortas and other Mexican favorites? Try Kompali, which is a few minutes east on Brady St. The margaritas are perfect and the pork beans, chips and salsa, tortas, and just about any flavor taco are incredible.

This old school Milwaukee tavern is just down the street. It’s not fancy, but it’s friendly to humans and dogs. You might see us with our dog, Ruby. She likes the ambiance and the Cheezits.

This is a great spot for Thai dining or take-out. Call in your order and it’s usually ready in 15 minutes. And it’s less than a 5 minute walk from the Jewelebox. The Thai dishes are delicious and the sushi isn’t bad.

This is our favorite pizza in the city and it’s an easy 10-15 minute walk up Brady, left on Farwell. The space is basic and old school, great for dining in or take-out. We’ve heard that the other Italian dishes are delicious too, but we always go for the pizza. The house red is surprisingly nice.

This is another East Side legend. Be sure to stop in. The bread, rolls, pastries and Italian cookies are amazing. Walk by at night in the summer and smell the bread baking. It’s glorious.
