The house is in a neighborhood in the center of a little town. The feeling that you receive as you entering in Analipsi is that you are in a Cretan village with lots of greenery on the road and houses with beautiful gardens that alternate with fields of olives. Approaching the center of the village and the beach, the tourist businesses grow (for example shops, mini and super markets, ATM/Bank, post office, etc for your everyday needs before every excursion. Arriving at the beach of Analipsi, the first thing to watch is the tiny church built near the waves. It is a very picturesque church and every one that passes through Analipsi will stop here for a commemorative photo.

East from the church there is the main, long beach of the area with sand, crystal clear waters and is very well organized. To the west the beach is rocky. In the western part of the beach there is also the point where the Aposelemi River is ejected into the sea, where an important wetland is created, where many migratory birds find shelter. The coastal road stretches over 2 km. Approximately along its length, the visitor will find the beaches of the area along with many seaside taverns. The beach is suitable for couples and families and has: • Space for activities • Shower facilities

On the sandy beaches with shallow waters, there is plenty of sunbathing and relaxation area in front of the large hotels. At the eastern point of Anissaras is the very picturesque chapel of Agios Georgios of Sarandaris, which has a magnificent view across the bay of Hersonissos. East of today's Malia lies the Minoan palace of Malia. It is built on a privileged location, close to the sea and on the road that connects the eastern with central Crete. The palace of Malia in mythology served as the residence of Sarpidon, a brother of Minos, and was first built in 1900 BC. The pre-existing strong settlement, from which neighborhoods are preserved around the palace, is thus converted into a palatial city-center. In Malia we are fortunate to walk to the actual palace, as archaeologists excavated it. Most of the ruins that are visible today belong to the new palace complex, the second palace, whose premises are located around 3 courtyards, the central, the northern and the "yard of the tower". It is a palace that provokes the interest of the visitor for its magnificent dimensions, its complex design and its multiple details. Life in the palace of Malia flows, as in the other palaces, at the same pace. So let's try and imagine the daily Minoan occupations, ceremonies and celebrations in the big yard. The area has several sights such as historic temples and natural beauty. It is worth visiting the church of Our Lady of Galatians and admiring its famous hagiographies. There are also the temples of St. John the Baptist, the Taxiarches, St. Demetrius and Evangelismos, Agia Pelagia and St. George. The church of St. George has many old frescoes and the tradition says it was built to protect the saint who stayed there from the fairies, which in their praise are presented in the area.

The beach of Malia lies in front of the town. It is flooded with people, has fine golden sand and crystal-clear blue waters. It is a well-organized beach with many water sports options, 6 km long. Opposite the beach of Malia there is a small island named Afentis Christ, on which is the temple of the Transfiguration of the Savior, perhaps the most characteristic setting of Malia. For those who cannot withstand crowds and crowds, there is a long sandy beach located east, very close to the archaeological site of the palace of Malia. This beach is known to the locals as Potamos, as a small river flows into the east and is next to the great wetland of Malia.

Plaka is 16 km north of Agios Nikolaos, across from the Elounda lagoon's bougassite, one of the most beautiful spots in Crete. Plaka's trademark is the magnificent view of the island of Kalydon, where the famous fortress of Spinalonga, which served as a leprosy until the middle of the 20th century, is located. The existence of Plaka is strongly associated with Spinalonga, since Plaka was carrying the first supplies, but also the patients themselves, in Spinalonga. So the place was developed as a settlement to serve the needs of the living "dead" of the island. If you come to Plaka it is worth exploring the surrounding area with the picturesque hamlets with the archaeological sites and the vast olive groves of Mirabello (the mountainous area that rises northwest of Plaka). Continuing on an asphalt road north of the village, you can pass through the village of Vrouchas and see the old windmills. From there, continue east to reach the Akrotiri Akrotiri Lighthouse, which is located at the northwest point of the Mirabello Gulf. Just before you come across the modern version of Vrouha windmills, the big wind park in the area. Another route worth seeing is to cross Mirabello and its picturesque villages and reach Neapolis or Milatos from where you can continue on the National Road to Heraklion.

The small town of Elounda is not very picturesque, but it is built on the edge of the idyllic lagoon of Elounda, which is formed between the Spinalonga peninsula and Crete. After you continue, you will reach the town of Elounda, in the city of Shika as locals say its location. It is a not impressive small town, but you have many options for dining and staying in rooms or small hotels. You can take a stroll in the harbor and enjoy your coffee at the nearby cafes. From the town, you can take a walk to the east and visit the Spinalonga peninsula. Its characteristic is that at one point it passes through a very narrow strip of land, while right and left there is a sea. At the beginning of this road, on your right, you will see the old Elounda salt ponds, which have been an important source of revenue during the Venetian occupation, feeding all over Europe with salt. Continuing you will see the old stone windmills and a magnificent bridge in one of the most picturesque parts of Crete. Below the bridge there is a very narrow canal, Poros, which was opened by the French Army in 1897 to connect Mirabello bay with Korfos bay. On the Spinalonga Peninsula (some referred to as Pumpkin) you will see many abandoned nests, which are now a shelter for many species of animals and plants. It is worthwhile to continue your way to the chapel of Agios Loukas, with a magnificent view of the little island of Pumpkin. Right across from the church there is a small path leading to the beautiful beach of Kolokyta, with its blue-green waters. North of the beach and within 1.5km is the beautiful Byzantine church of Agios Fokas, worth visiting for an excursion.

A fortress, a disease, an island: the Spinalonga. At the entrance of Elounda Bay you will see its impregnable fortress, which in the depths of the centuries have tried many to conquer: Venetians, Ottomans, refugees, rebels. Years later, he was conquered by a disease ... Here, from 1905 to 1957, the lepers of the whole of Greece were housed. A story inspired by Victoria's award-winning historic novel, "The Island". Today, you can still feel the mystery and the history of the rocky island in the atmosphere if you visit it with a boat or even swim.

Agios Nikolaos is the cosmopolitan capital of Lassithi with a population of 20,000. It is a beautiful quiet small town, which the Cretans simply refer to as "the saint". A trademark of St. Nicholas is the picturesque Lake Voulismeni, a small lagoon in the center of the city, used to tie the boats. Dozens of legends are associated with it because of its very deep waters, such as its lack of depth. At the bottom of the lake, the German wars had been thrown away before they left Crete in 1944. A walk around the lake is a very nice experience. Other sights of Agios Nikolaos are the neoclassical buildings, the marina (the first marina in Crete), the islet of Agioi Pantes with the protected Cretan goat, the Kitropteia with its taverns, the pedestrian walkway with the cafes. Also impressive are the stairs that are found almost everywhere, as the city is built in an area with very intense slopes.

It is a sparsely populated area that retains to a large extent its former rural character. Along the long coastline of Gouves, there are several remarkable beaches that can satisfy every wish. Some of the rocky areas offer more privacy, while the large sandy beaches have all the tourist amenities, from sunbeds and umbrellas to calm waters thanks to the artificial breakwaters built in the area. The beach in front of the Marina Hotel covers a large area and is very popular, while the beach of Asteras is considered one of the best in the area. Walking westwards the coast becomes rocky or pebbled to the chapel. Beyond that there are some wonderful small beaches.

The monastery of Agia Marina Vonis is located 500m south of the village of Voni and on the day of its celebration (July 17th) it gathers the most crowds of believers from any other monastery in Crete, with tails of kilometers from cars and outdoors stalls. Many are the ones who have vows in Agia Marina and come to the monastery from Heraklion or other areas. The monastery was founded in 1895 by Ioannis Kaparounakis at a point where it is said that he had drunk water and helped him miraculously to recover from a disease. There was already a small 14th-15th-century chapel at the point where the holy water spilled but was owned by a Turk, Hossef Pasha, who did not want to leave the monastery erected. It is said that St. Marina then intervened and punished the Turk, as all three of his children became ill. Having understood what had happened, the Turk found Kaparounakis and gave him the property. Since then this chapel has been renovated and the women's monastery of Agia Marina has been built around it. Today we can see part of the old temple at the arch of the sanctuary, where very few frescoes survive. Agia Marina is considered a protector of the sick children and there are testimonies of miracles in the monastery. Impression creates the room with the various personal types of those who lived their miracle, such as crutches.

Today in Plaka you will find scenic fish taverns and lovely traditional houses that give you the impression that the time here has stopped. Plaka could not stay out of the beaches of Crete, as it has two scenic beaches with large pebbles and crystal clear waters. The first beach of Agia Marina is right in front of the big Blue Palace Hotel, east of the settlement. West of the village lies the second beach of Plaka, the thick pebble, the calm waters and the trees.
