Food scene
This is a great “locals” place. Well known for their Delmonico - a must if you feel like a steak. Otherwise my first choice is from their specials board which is usually ample. The regular menu is great too.

Beaches
My favorite beach is Island Beach State Park just south of Seaside. It’s full of sugarsand beaches. There are two giant parking lots leading to life guarded beaches. I stop here only when I know I want to swim. These are followed by 21 more lots holding from about six to about 20 cars. Once you’ve walked over the dunes you have much fewer people. I always prefer this, but only if I know I’ll be happy wading not swimming since there are no life guards and plenty of riptides. Around lot 20 or 21 there is a small bathhouse so it’s a favorite, but if full the lot before and after are close enough. Get here by 10:30 on a nice day as their parking may get filled to capacity on a nice day. I also sometimes stop at the Three Cs diner (it’s tiny) in Seaside.

The boardwalk is a favorite for visitors and locals too. Mostly rebuilt after Super Storm Sandy it’s full of beach shops, boardwalk food, and carnival type games. There’s even an arcade and rides.
