You can stroll along the path and enjoy the ocean view, stop off at the gelateria for a coffee or gelato, have a meal a one of the many cafe's, visit the playgrounds and waterparks for the kids, and workout equipment is positioned right the way along for a beach side workout.

Strand Park

Highly recommended for families. You can also walk across the river from here in a loop via two walking bridges. Great to do in the rain in summer.

Highly recommended for families. You can also walk across the river from here in a loop via two walking bridges. Great to do in the rain in summer.

Magnetic Island literally sheds the stress of everyday life on the ferry over. By the time you arrive on what I believe to be one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth, you are at peace and ready to relax on this sleepy little island. Abounding in natural beauty, take your walking shoes and walk walk walk. The island boasts many kilometres of walking tracks and private beaches only accessible by foot or boat. The water is crystal clear and warm all year round. Great for a day visit or spend a few nights if you are really stressed.

If you are interested in history, and like a good cup of tea, a drive up to the heritage tea rooms is a lovely idea. The views are spectacular on the drive up looking out over townsville and the atmosphere at the tea rooms is relaxed and charming. The food is very high quality and they make good coffee too. There is walking tracks for those interested in exploring and many historical mementos of a by gone era. A nice place for brunch.

The views are spectacular on the drive up looking out over townsville and the atmosphere at the tea rooms is relaxed and charming. The food is very high quality and they make good coffee too. There is walking tracks for those interested in exploring and many historical mementos of a by gone era. A nice place for brunch.
Welcome to Australian animals. You can get photos or just enjoy being immersed in all the Australian wildlife you could ask for. It is very educational with tour guides and educaters on hand.

A great spot to view townsville with 360° views, and loads to walking/jogging tracks for the fitness conscious. Well worth climbing for the views.

Food scene
The C-Bar makes an excellent long black with views out to Magnetic Island. Sit on the deck and spot turtles and dugon, while enjoying the licensed bar and locally sourced menu, cooled by the salty mist of the sea. A great place all year round, but best on weekdays.

Juliette's is located on the water with amazing ocean views out to Maggie Island. They make great coffee and their gelato is a cut above the rest.

While it's a bit of a drive at 2.5 hours, and the tours only run on Thursdays and Sundays, it is still worth going. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the tour is fun and educational and lunch is divine.

Truly very good coffee, lovely food and an awesome atmosphere. There is also a speciality grocer which gives you free coffee if you spend over $50. A thriving hub of action in the early mornings.

Adventure
While I haven't yet dived or snorkeled to this museum yet, it is definitely on my bucket list. For those after an experience that is challenging and unique, I think it would be well worth visiting.
