Upland has great local beer, as well as delicious and often local food. It's also kid-friendly. Their fries are the best in town, and the patio is a great place to enjoy nice weather.

It's so delicious! If you go during lunch, there is a wonderful buffet, and there are a lot of vegetarian options.

Michael's Uptown Cafe is a delicious local establishment with a higher end atmosphere and feel. It's a wonderful place for a special brunch, but all meals here are delicious. They also have an extensive drink menu.

Lennie's has delicious food and local beer. It's a little more upscale but not pretentious. It has wonderful outdoor seating right on Kirkwood for interesting people watching.

Bloomington has many great pizza places, but Mother Bear's is my family's favorite, followed closely by Aver's, then Pizza X. It's a local favorite for sure!

Nick's is not only a local pillar of Bloomington and IU's bar scene, but it also has really delicious, often local food! If you want to "do Bloomington," you definitely need to go to Nick's.

Hoosier Seoulmate is a wonderful meeting of Korean and Hoosier, with lots of options at different price points. I've never had anything here that wasn't delicious. The atmosphere is just fine, and the location is meh, but the food is great!

Our library is so wonderful! If you have little kids and need a fun indoor place to play and relax, come to the children's area and enjoy! There is a Play and Learn Center with lots of pretend play opportunities, and a whole bunch of board books just waiting to be read and enjoyed!

Favorite Hikes
This is a great little hike - just a 1.1 mile loop, and a great place to see karst features. There are a lot of stairs at the very beginning of the hike, but otherwise it's not a difficult hike.

Cedar Bluffs is a beautiful Nature Conservancy nature preserve, and can be a challenging, but rewarding hike, especially if you go up to the top of the 75 foot limestone bluff.

The B-Line Trail is a bike/ped paved trail that runs north to south through Bloomington, skirting downtown and going right through Switchyard Park. It connects to the Clear Creek Trail, so there are a lot of available miles on this lovely path.

Great playground! There is a short, accessible hike to a waterfall, and there's a creek flowing the length of the park with a really great area that makes it easy to interact with. There is also a fun little slidey spot, if you're looking to get wet, and a beach volleyball court.
