Take a free ferry to Wolfe Island. It’s the island that you see across the lake that is full of wind turbines. Every hour a car ferry leaves from Barrack and Ontario street and travels between Kingston and Wolfe Island (it takes 20 minutes). There is a small town on Wolfe Island called Marysville that you can explore as soon as you get off the ferry. It has a pub, a bakery and a few quaint shops. The Island Pub Grill is a nice place to have lunch or grab a pint. If you are going in the winter, you may want to call ahead as hours may vary during off-season.

The people who work here have always been very nice and a wealth of knowledge when suggesting activities that each guest may enjoy. They also know what is open at a particular time of year, since some attractions are seasonal. There is also a fun Kingston sign for a photo op.

The Kingston Brew Pub is Ontario's oldest brew pub, established in 1986, and is Canada's oldest wine-producing pub. Beers, wines, ciders and soda pops are made on the premises. Food is pub standard with unique twists and beer used in many of the recipes. A courtyard and street-front patio, as well as a banquet room (known as the Dragon's Lair), makes this pub a must visit. I recommend the ceasar salad and club sandwich.

There is a lovely rooftop patio (open in the warm months) if you’re looking for a delicious bite and fantastic view of the city. I especially recommend it as the sun is going down. The inside is lovely as well, with 2 levels of dining.
