Best shortest and most scenic route to Yosemite from the Chalet.
Exit from the Chalets back onto HWY 168 head south back out of town.Stay on HWY 168 to the stop sign at the bottom of the four lane.
Turn right. Less then ¼ mile on your right is SJ&E Rd. Turn right to it.
Take SJ&E to its stop sign; turn right on Auberry rd.
Take Auberry rd to its ‘Y"; take the left leg of the Y (Powerhouse rd.).
Take Powerhouse very scenic watch the wildlife too. It leads to a very unique bridge by little Kerckhoff Lake (very pretty, a good spot to have a stop).
Staying on Powerhouse Rd it will come to a stop sign. Turn right (RD 222).
Stay on road 222 through North Fork follow signs to Bass Lake. Either side of Bass Lake will head you to HWY 41.
Take HWY 41 right to Yosemite!

McKinley Grove is a stand of virgin, mostly mature Giant Sequoia trees, with the largest being over 230 feet tall. Mature sequoias average 15 ft. in diameter and 250 feet in height. Great place to visit and Hike.
