Sightseeing
Hengifoss is the highest waterfall in Austurland, there is about one hour walk from the carpark but it is so rewarding walk. I have been up there so many times. It is just wonderful. my recommendation is to be there very early, see the morning rise over the mountains and hopefully you will be there alone to enjoy

Hengifoss is the highest waterfall in Austurland, there is about one hour walk from the carpark but it is so rewarding walk. I have been up there so many times. It is just wonderful. my recommendation is to be there very early, see the morning rise over the mountains and hopefully you will be there alone to enjoy

Not far from Egilssstaðir, place worth visiting. Great view and to your surprise nature almost look untouched.

The house that belonged to the writer Gunnar Gunnarsson. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and exhibitions on the upper floor. Once there was a monastery there and there have been many findings from the past.
