Delicious wood-fired pizza. I recommend the pickled tomatoes to start, followed by a red onion pistachio pizza.

The perfect place for a special occasion. This is a very old Ann Arbor establishment in the cellar of one of the oldest buildings in town. On busier weekends, be sure to make a reservation in advance. If you like the ambiance of soft jazz, ask to sit near the musicians (it doesn't get very loud). The Earle is frequented by a more mature crowd of Ann Arborites who keep returning because it has some of the BEST French and Italian inspired dishes. Their peppercorn steak is delightful and, personally, my favorite in town! Their medium-rare duck with rotating seasonal sauces is so much more than you could possibly expect. And finally, their incredibly large selection of wine from ALL OVER THE WORLD is breathtaking (though, perhaps, a little overwhelming). Ask to speak with their sommelier who is sure to give you the perfect recommendation. Finally, before leaving, sneak a peek at their wine cellar. It is a phenomenal sight!

Amazing variety of ice cream and sorbets made in-house with diary-free options and rotating flavors every week. It’s a very short walk from the loft, but be prepared for long lines in the summer. Open from March-November.

Delicious barbecue, sandwiches, and sausages. One of the best places to get quality meat and artisan foods. For a tasty snack, try their chili tots 😋

Detroit Street Filling Station is so good, you forget it's an entirely vegan establishment! In the heart of the LGBTQ neighborhood of Kerrytown, this casual and laid back local favorite offers the best and, perhaps, healthiest comfort food in town.

A "towny" favorite! This place is the oldest watering hole in town, serving beer since the 1800s (under various names). Standard tavern food done well. I recommend ordering the fried chicken sandwich or, for spice/heat lovers, the Nashville Hot Chicken.

Fleetwood is a famous Ann Arbor institution. Some say, Madonna worked here before she became Madonna! This greasy diner is everything you expect it to be. Open 24/7, it is the last place that's open at night and the first place people go to when the restaurants and bars close. Try their hippie hash browns with feta cheese and a fried egg!

A short drive away from downtown, Dimo's is the best Deli and Donut Shop in town. Be prepared for a New England-style deli experience. It's loud, packed with regulars, and Dimo will most certainly bark at you for your order. Don’t be fooled by his abrasive demeanor, Dimo is a sweetheart!

Spencer, a 2023 finalist for the James Beard Award, is a small neighborhood wine shop and restaurant. It's a great place to go for a unique tasting menu experience with creative dishes that incorporate exceptional, locally sourced ingredients.

Drinks

The best place in town to get craft beer. They have over 30 rotating taps, cocktails, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Wonderful and large selection of craft beers. Try the Elephant Juice IPA or, for something lighter, Oberon with a slice of orange or Pilsner Urquell for a traditional Czech Pilsner. Plenty of outdoor seating and a heated awning for the cold winter months. They don't have food, but they occasionally host pop-up food events catered by local vendors. You are also welcome to bring outside food. I personally like to order from Old Town Tavern across the street and bring it over to. Ask for Josh and tell him Ani sent you!

Right next door, you’ll find one of the best places to get cocktails in Ann Arbor. Most Thursdays-Sundays they have various food pop-up vendors and food trucks that stop by. And the best part is, it’s right next door!

Words cannot quite describe the sophistication and historic beauty that this place offers. Located in the cellar of an old 19th century mill, Root offers an interesting selection of rotating cocktails in a dimly lit, intimate setting tucked inside an intricate labyrinth of stone archways and halls.

Sightseeing

This is my favorite place to walk all year round. It is a beautiful 39 acre forested park/nature preserve. Walk up Felch in the direction of the distillery, turn right on Spring street and hike up the hill until you get the to end of the street, turn right (walking past the old catholic cemetery) and the entrance to the nature preserve will be on your left.

If you'd like to take a nice, scenic walk along the river or if you'd like to casually kayak/canoe down the Huron River, this is the place to go! You can rent Kayaks, tubes, or canoes at reasonable prices during summer. Only a 10-15 minute walk from the Felch loft!

Take a walk through the beautiful "Arb". It's filled will flowers, trees, and grassy fields for picnicking in the spring/summer or sledding in the winter. Definitely one of my favorite places to relax or watch a production of "Shakespeare in the Arb".
