The Shaggy Sheep has a great mountain feel with amazing food! Located just off of 285 southwest of Bailey, we recommend stopping here for breakfast or lunch on your way to or back from hiking in this direction. It is super close to the turnoff for Guanella pass so it would be a great stop for a trip there! I recommend getting the chicken sandwich, it's so good! They also have some relatively cheap beer options at lunchtime!

This Italian restaurant is right on the river and off of 285 just outside Bailey. Delicious food and a great perch right above the river. We recommend sitting on the patio at lunch time and enjoying a beer flight with a few appetizers - calamari, mussels, and truffle fries are all tasty! The food is a little bit more expensive here and it does have a full bar so maybe not ideal for families with small children. However, they do have some tasty take and bake pizza options that you can bring back to the cabin!

There is a new food truck park off 285 right near the turn for this cabin. This food truck is the original one that inspired the food truck park and it's for a good reason! Absolutely amazing mexican food, I recommend anything with the Al Pastor pork! This food truck park is also a great option if you have a group that can't decided what to eat. There's typically also a good fried chicken food truck, a hibachi food truck and a vegetable stand/food truck with some local baked goods.

The drive to Buena Vista from this cabin is very scenic and it is a great place to go white water rafting! The Arkansas River has really fun whitewater trips for a variety of thrill levels. We recommend using American Adventure Expeditions - Whitewater Rafting and making a day trip out of it!

A cool way to spend a day would be to drive up and over Kenosha Pass to the town of Georgetown for lunch. Then on the drive back over the pass explore the trails and take some awesome photos in nature. We recommend going to the Bierstadt Trailhead and hiking a little in that area!

The easiest access to these trails from our cabin is the Brookside-McCurdy Trailhead just outside Bailey. The trail system is vast from this point so you can do as long or short of a hike as you like. We recommend turning towards brookside trial at the first trail split for a scenic hike that alternates between a mossy pine forest trail that follows a brook and an aspen covered hilltop hike with views of the surrounding mountains and rock formations. On weekdays you may just have this trail to yourself, rare for the front range! We highly recommend this trailhead to trail runners. Good views and not too steep in either direction but still enough elevation gain for a scenic and varied run!

This disk golf course is one of the top 20 in the country! AND it's only a mile from the cabin! The views are great and you will get a good hike out of this course because the holes are up and down a scenic hillside. We have a few sets of discs stored at the cabin (under the TV) so all you need to play is some good walking shoes and a good throwing arm! Fair warning: This course has long holes 250-700ft if you are not used to disk golf, your throwing arm will be sore the next day! We wouldn't recommend planning to disk golf one day and then rock climb or whitewater raft the next day. Even though it's a big course, it's still great family fun and you can play as many or as few holes as you like! Suggested donation of $5/person.
