10 minute drive from cottage: Enjoy your self-guided exploration of 10 limestone caves in the peace and tranquillity of singing birds and rustling leaves along the rugged trails where scenes of Quest for Fire and Against the Wild were filmed, all in about a hour or two, but come prepared with GOOD hiking shoes with a good tread, as the rocks may be moist and slippery. You will also need a flashlight for some parts of the caves. Check out some of our Cave Photos and Video here. Binoculars will be a good idea to get a better view from the trail above the caves affords breathtaking views about 300 feet above the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay. Very important also is to have comfortable clothing when climbing around the caves.

Set beneath the majestic Niagara Escarpment, this little lighthouse has endured more hardship than the mariners it guided! The first lighthouse was established in 1903 and was rebuilt several times due to the high-energy weather conditions of Georgian Bay. Automation in 1969 finally replaced the attractive structure with a metal post and light. In 1983, a group of high school students built a replica model lighthouse from the blueprints of its original building that existed in 1903. The replica lighthouse still stands in its place today and is a popular destination for visitors.

Singing Sands is a part of Bruce Peninsula National Park and is located on the Lake Huron shoreline approximately 10 km south of the town of Tobermory. Singing Sands has a small, natural (ungroomed) beach and picnic area. There is also a short boardwalk and trail that passes through rare fen and dune ecosystems, which are home to four species of carnivorous plants, orchids and rare plants found only in the Great Lakes region. There is a parking fee to visit Singing Sands but it is a very popular location so the parking lot fills up on most summer days and on every long weekend. Swimming is unsupervised and at your own risk.
