We recommend doing your grocery shopping in Santa Fe or Taos, but if you're not tight on cash or you need to pick up something you forgot, Bode's will have you covered. They also have some pretty tasty breakfast burritos if you can make it there before they sell out!

Awesome, casual (walk up and order) authentic New Mexican tacos, burritos and more. Family owned. 30 minutes from Abiquiu in Español (not a bad place to stop if you're coming from Santa Fe). The chicken tacos are some of the best in the state, but we also recommend the bean, cheese & chile burrito with guacamole for vegetarians. Yum!

Located a short 5 minute drive from the yurt is the Rio Chama recreation area, on County Road 162. The road runs right along the Rio Chama, with places to pull out, park, and access the river. Some areas even have picnic tables and benches. The road turns into a very rutty dirt road about 3-4 miles up though, and we recommend an AWD/4WD vehicle to access the upper area. Fishing and swimming are allowed, but please mind private property and do not trespass.

These hot springs are our favorite. They are approximately 1.5 hours into the Jemez Mountains, and require a 5 mile hike between January 1-Memorial Day weekend every year. The rest of the year, you can drive up less than 1 mile and park. The springs run directly out of the mountain.
