Sightseeing

Don't let the name scare you, this beautiful beach is protected by a shark net during the warmer months. Located in the Sydney Harbour National Park, the beach offers a beautiful view of Sydney Harbour. We love to spend summers here, swimming and picnicking in the extensive surrounding parklands. Free car parking is available (be sure to follow the parking signs regarding rear-to-curb parking in some locations), or you could catch bus route 325 from Edgecliff Station. Sadly this location is not dog friendly.

A perfect location for picnicking, walking and cycling (bike hire is available from the Greenhouse at Centennial Park). This extensive parkland has many gardens, lakes and trails to explore, or you can sit in one of the many cafes and enjoy the park surrounds. You'll quickly forget that you're in the heart of a large city. The outer loop of the park is very popular with cyclists with separate tracks for trail runners and horse riders. There is plenty of free parking, and for those guests without a car, an Uber/taxi may be helpful to avoid the 2km mostly uphill walk through Paddington.

Great bush walking trails close to the house. The trails begin at the playground located next to Trumper Oval. Trumper Park offers encounters with plenty of wild birds, notably Kookaburras who seem to enjoy spending their day near the duck pond. The trails are suitable for dogs, provided the dog remains on-leash.

Located within the old Navy boat sheds, the Navy Bear is a great spot for coffee, breakfast or lunch. On sunny days, the outdoor tables are great, and on cold or windy days enjoy the indoor tables with the sound of the sea splashing under the old floor boards. The boat shed is still an active sailing club so expect to have a few sailors moving about the boat shed. The outdoor tables are dog friendly. After coffee/breakfast/lunch be sure to walk down the foot path toward Darling Point where you'll be rewarded with great views of Sydney Harbour and an occasional submarine berthed just off the point.
