Donaghadee's harbour recently celebrated its bicentenary. It has a long and interesting history. In the summer months there are guided historical walks which start at the harbour. The lighthouse is an iconic symbol of the town.

Thd moat was originally built by the Normans and featured a motte and bailey castle. The existing structure on top of the moat is a much later addition built c1818. It was used to store the explosives for the blasting involved in the construction of the harbour. You can enjoy fabulous views of the town, harbour, the Scottish coast and the Isle of Mann on a clear day. A recent addition this year has been the installation of a camera obscura which is due to open Autumn 2021.

This National Trust property has formal and informal gardens for long or short walks in beautiful surroundings. Tours of the house and organised events can also be enjoyed - check online for details opening hours etc.

The National Trust property of Castleward is approximately an hours drive from Driftwood. It is on the shores of Strangford Lough, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Scenic walks are plentiful and Game of Thrones fans will recognise it as the setting for Winterfell...a must see!!
