Casa Lola is a local favourite, with the original around the corner on Calle Granada. This one has the sun in the morning and does a good breakfast deal of a small bread roll & topping, coffee and orange juice. They also serve eggs as well as sweet options.

It’s advisable to book for most places but if you can pop in earlier in the day or a day before it’s usually fine.
Nestled in between a lot of tourist restaurants, this really is fantastic. It’s a specialist in artichokes, but also does a Spanish version of ham, egg and chips (huevos rotos con jamon) that will blow you away. It’s a rustic and traditional restaurant.

Uvedoble serves up modern twists on classic tapas favourites. Probably the best tapas in Málaga, and really reasonably priced. Booking is essential.

Cambara is one of the few restaurants at the port worth visiting. Great cocktails in a gorgeous sunny setting. Tapas here is less traditional and takes inspiration from all over the world. But still served in small, shareable plates meaning you can try loads of different flavours, you can book online for a table via Google.

Mercado de Atarazanas is a fantastic undercover bustling market, open everyday except Sunday’s. Arrive before 2pm to pick up local produce to cook in or dine out at Bar Mercado de Atarazanas for the best fish, (this really if fantastic)
Everything is great.. but we particularly love the Frito mixto which is a great mix of all the great fish Malaga has to offer. The tuna skewer is also a highlight as well as the rosada (white fish) a la plancha…

If you can get into La Tranca, the atmosphere is raucous any night of the week. Food here is also excellent and affordable. Your bill will be calculated in chalk on the bar at the end of the night.
