The church is valued for its decoration in what is called indigenous Baroque. The church was initially built in the 16th century. Christian leaders from the Church instructed local Indian artists to sculpture angels, who not being familiar with angels or European facial sculpting, made all angels with Indian faces. The whole architecture is amazing and regardless of your religious faith, this is a place you must see.

Colonial religious building, characteristic of the Mexican Baroque architecture, especially recognized for its facade of Talavera mosaics combined with red brick. It is located in the town of San Francisco Acatepec in San Andrés Cholula. A must see independently of religious faith. It is a master price of architecture, culture and history.

The underground tunnel system dates back to 1531, but wasn’t unearthed and opened to the public until 2016. Many Mexican cities have legends about secret tunnels lying just beneath the streets, used during the revolution either by royalty or even during the inquisition. Grandparents would tell these folk stories to children. The discovery of the Puebla tunnel lends some credence to the folklore. The tunnel—tall enough that a person could comfortably ride through on horseback—originates in the historic center of Puebla and lets out to the Loreto fort, where the Cinco de Mayo battle against the French army occurred. Archeologists first discerned that it was a complex sewer system, but another discovery led them to believe that people also used the tunnels for secret travel.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl (Nahuatl for "made-by-hand mountain"), is a huge complex located in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. It is the largest archaeological site of a pyramid (temple) in the New World, as well as the largest pyramid by volume known to exist in the world today. The city was believed to be incredibly sacred and the people constructed a holy pyramid for every day of the year, however, when the Spanish settled they created one church for every day of the year as a symbol of their Christian conquest - the final touch being the the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Remediosa on top of the Great Pyramid of Cholula. Beautiful downtown plaza with its eye opening beautiful colonial cathedral, which started construction in 1575. Walk around the local shops and be surprised by their Talavera art, local desert shops, bars and much more. Grab an ice cream cup or cone to go, and walk around.

If you are walking the center (downtown) of Puebla, a few blocks away from the main plaza is this little “cantina” (folkloric Mexican bar). It is a tradition to stop by this place and have one of their pasita liquors. They can make you forget any trouble you may have, but be careful. You don’t want to forget too much. You can’t feel the alcohol but your body certainly will ;-)

Only 25 minutes from Puebla city, is this beautiful European styled town, inspired by an Italian town called San Quirico d’Orcia. It is a very unique experience you can’t miss out on. Go see majestic creatures in a cage free environment. It’s recommended to bring your own car. The zoo offers a bus ride but it’s not the most comfortable way to visit and enjoy this incredible experience. Great for the whole family!!! Kids love it.

Only 12 kms away from the city of Puebla, this little town was founded by Italian descendants in the 1800’s. Chipilo is an incredible town full of beautiful people in and out. They greet each other with hugs, kisses and shouts of hello. Conversations tend to be happy and loud. The difference is that in Chipilo the shouts and conversations are often in Italian. That’s because Chipileños, as they’re known, have kept alive the language that they brought over from Italy 138 years ago. Full of cafes and restaurants, you will certainly find a time you can cherish for ever. Pay attention to the cheese factories all over town. Chipilo prides in having the best type of cheeses in the country.

It’s a one of a kind experience of high end real Italian cuisine in a very cozy Italian environment. Most of the time you will have a chance to chat with the Italian chef and owner Libero Orsino. He will delight you with great wine suggestions and very tasteful selection of dishes to remember. Reservation is recommended since this restaurant has few tables which is part of the remarkable experience.
