Coffee Shop

This is our favourite place for a hot drink and a cake, although some hot food is also available. Aptly named, Vista has a terrace to the rear with views over the harbour and North Beach.

Forget Domino's. For top quality pizza, pasta, wine and service come to where the locals eat.

Possibly the best tapas in Wales. This gem of a restaurant that also has a great shop to the front. Or is it a gem of a shop with a great restaurant?

If you are particularly hungry, head for Billycan. Large portions of pub favourites, such as burgers, lasagne, steaks, etc.

Very nice artisan bakery with special breads, sausage rolls, etc. Because we think it's worth paying a bit extra for quality when on holiday.

Our family have been visiting Tenby for five decades and we are delighted to now have a holiday home close to the centre of town. It's hard to know where to start when singing its praises. At its heart is the picturesque harbour, where many leisure craft and working boats are moored. Tenby has four beaches, North Beach, Harbour Beach, Castle Beach and South Beach. Three of these have blue flags and all are within easy walking distance of our house. The waters are very clean and clear. Best for swimming is probably North Beach, as it is sheltered, but for serious swimmers remember to use a tow float for safety. Castle Beach was "runaway winner" of the Sunday times UK beach of the year 2019. This is where St Catherine's Island can be found and is also where boat trips generally operate from (some go from the harbour, depending on the tide). South Beach is a glorious, long, sandy beach, which leads out to Giltar point and stunning views. Tip: South Beach catches the evening sun, whereas North Beach shades over. Tenby town has everything that could possibly need for your stay. There are a wide variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. There is a Sainsbury's supermarket near the bus station but for others it is necessary to visit Pembroke Dock. St Margaret's church dominates the High Street but there are several other churches available nearby.

A lovely village, with an impressive castle, not far from Tenby. For keen walkers, the beach is reachable along the coastal path.

Days Out

Home to a surprisingly large variety of species. It is also possible to book experiences, such as feeding the giraffes.

A fun place to visit if you have children. Also has a golf course, which I would describe as a reasonably large pitch and putt.

Pubs

Sandbar is brilliant if you like to gamble on craft beers. Some of them are like ambrosia from the Gods and you will feel like you are floating home, others are like ditch water. I absolutely love it!

Busy pub, serving local Harbwr beers and food. The food is slightly better than general pub grub and for that reason I like it.

Good local beers and food in a nice atmosphere. In fact as local as you could possibly get, the brewery being out the back.

Beaches and the Sea

Going to Skrinkle Haven beach on a sunny day is like visiting Thailand. Access is tricky though as the old route down the cliff has been blocked, although some still use it. Adjacent Church Door Cove is however accessible via steps.

Very occasionally it's possible to walk from Tenby to Saundersfoot on the sand, with Monkstone being about halfway. By car, parking is limited but this may be the reason why you might have the beach to yourself. It's a large and very lovely stretch of sand.

This beach could not be missed out, as it is at the top of the street and we absolutely love it. The view from the top towards the harbour is possibly the most photographed view in the whole of Wales. It is great for swimming, SUP, kayaking, sunbathing, etc. In a sheltered position it is possibly the safest beach in Wales, with lifeguards, lots of people overlooking it, two lifeboats within a few hundred metres and, just in case, a doctor's surgery and cottage hospital behind it! Just two words of warning: 1) Watch for seagulls if eating, as they will swoop and take food from your hand. 2) The cafe could be better. If you want a magnum fine but for coffee go elsewhere.

If you believe in Heaven Bosherston lily ponds in summer are probably what you imagine it looks like. I can almost guarantee that walkers will love the 10km circular walk around Bosherston, Stackpole Quay, Barafundle and Broad Haven South.
