The city boasts an embarrassment of world-class smoky meats, and this East Austin spot (which recently relocated into a really funky fun building) gives Franklin a run for its money. After all, the barbecue joint is from LeAnn Mueller of the legendary Texas barbecue family. Go for the brisket and sausages and any of the fun sandwiches. Be sure to order the superb shells and cheese with smoked vegetables and a little spicy kick.

Amazing one of a kind experience! This is a true village with something for everyone. Gardens. Yoga and meditation classes all day. Hammocks. Outdoor seating with big picnic benches. It IS macrobiotic food, so that may or may not be what you are seeking. But the experience is so worth it, especially if you are going to be over at Zilker Park or Barton Springs. There are also other places over there, that are more touristy, but super fun, and will have alcohol (casa de luz does not), so you may wish to just walk and check out some of those destinations nestled together on Barton Springs Road. There is a place over there with good food, called Juliet. it is Italian, and has lots of outdoor seating. Amazing wines. And good food.

When it comes to beautiful bodies of water, it doesn’t get much better than Lake Travis. This gorgeous Lake is situated about a half hour to 45 minutes outside of the heart of Austin, but the experience is most definitely worth the drive. There are many rental options at Lake Travis. Rent a 2 story barge and throw a party because some of these boats can hold up to 50 people. If you’re looking for something a little more intimate, there are smaller Pontoons available. Jet skis are the way to go if there is only one ore two of you and you just want to get out on the lake!

We have bats, people! Watch millions depart from under the Congress Bridge at sunset for their nightly "food run." It is a sight to behold. This is a seasonal attraction that happens between March-October before the bats head south for the winter. In 1984, Austin-based artists Sylvia Orozco, Sam Coronado, and Pio Pulido teamed up to create the Mexic-Arte Museum and share the art and culture of Mexico with the people of Austin and all of Texas. They hosted the first Day of the Dead Festival that same year, and it remains the longest-running festival of its kind in Texas, showcasing Latino/Tejano artists, entertainment, and educational programs in the heart of downtown Austin. Today, the museum sits squarely in the heart of downtown Austin on Congress Avenue, where it moved to in 1988. Since it's only one of a few Mexican art museums in the United States, it provides visitors and the community with a unique cultural and learning experience.

Circuit of The Americas is the premier destination for world-class motorsports and entertainment in the United States. Set on 1,500 acres in the rolling hills just outside downtown Austin, Circuit of The Americas has hosted the biggest names in racing, action sports and music since 2012. At its heart is a 3.41-mile racetrack that was designed to challenge the world's most exacting competitors while providing a thrilling spectacle for audiences. It is home to the only Formula 1 and MotoGP races in the country — the UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX and Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas — and has played host to ESPN's X Games, the FIA World Endurance Championship, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Pirelli World Challenge and more. Nestled within the track is Germania Insurance Amphitheater, the largest permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas, and its 251-foot signature observation tower. This unique treasure in the Live Music Capital of the World has hosted some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, including Texas icon Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, KISS, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, Kenny Chesney, Drake, Maroon 5, Muse, Kelly Clarkson and dozens more.
